Hi! My name is Holly Kempe and I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.
Since 1975 I have been involved in the home building and design industry with an interest in interior decorating. In 2004 I discovered photography after one of those life-changing experiences which left me with a need to slow down and change my lifestyle.
I prefer to think of myself more as a photographic artist rather than as a photographer, by which I mean, rather than record a subject or scene with my camera I like to try and find an alternative interpretation. To try and convey what I feel rather than simply what I see. I use my camera as a medium of capture but prefer to ‘make’ images rather than just take them by simply recording what is already there. To me, the capturing of an image is just the first stage - I enjoy spending time processing, in trying to reveal the hidden depths.
This site features my personal artworks which explores my view of the world and offers my interpretation of what I see and what I feel.
In between being an active member of online photographic and art communities such as Google Earth, flickr, redbubble and Fine Art America since 2004, I travel Australia searching for inspiration for my work.
Through the internet, my artwork has found homes to be hung in around the world, as well as gracing the pages of books (poetry, Lonely Planet and art table books) and numerous websites and brochures. Apart from the internet, my small personal gallery is on acreage bushland overlooking the Sunshine Coast. Although not open to the public at this present time, I hope to open it's doors to all in the near future. I'm looking forward to meeting up and sharing a cuppa with anyone who happens to visit my little part of the world.
In the meantime, enjoy your visit to my small corner of the internet world......
(Feedback on my gallery is always welcome, if you have time please visit my guestbook.)
